CYBEX Coya vs Bugaboo Butterfly 2 Plus

Two luxury-tier compact strollers with one-hand folds and premium materials - but very different answers on newborn readiness.

The Coya and Butterfly 2 Plus both sit at the premium end of this shortlist, with one-hand folds and high-end materials. The biggest difference: the Butterfly 2 Plus is newborn-ready straight out of the box, while the Coya's seat starts at 6 months and needs a compatible infant car seat or separate carry cot for younger babies.

Fold and portability

Both fold to a similar footprint - 20.5 × 17.3 × 7.1 in for the Coya versus 17.6 × 9.6 × 21.8 in for the Butterfly 2 Plus - each collapsing with one hand.

Comfort and ride

The Butterfly 2 Plus's recline goes all the way from fully flat to fully upright, beyond the Coya's ergonomic near-flat recline, and its all-wheel suspension covers more ground than the Coya's front-wheel-only setup. The Butterfly 2 Plus also carries a noticeably larger 17.6 lb basket against the Coya's 11 lb.

Newborn use

Seat is for 6+ months. Newborn use requires a compatible CYBEX infant car seat or the separate carry cot, sold separately. Butterfly 2 Plus, by contrast: From-birth use with the fully reclining seat and built-in newborn foot cover; no separate accessory required.

Price

The Coya is significantly more expensive at around $1049.95, against around $579 for the Butterfly 2 Plus - nearly double, largely for the Coya's materials and finish.

Which one should you buy?

Choose the CYBEX Coya if premium materials and a luxury-brand feel matter most, and your child is already 6 months or older.

Choose the Bugaboo Butterfly 2 Plus if you want from-birth readiness, a bigger basket and full suspension for meaningfully less money.
