The Butterfly 2 Plus is the newborn-ready version of Bugaboo’s compact travel stroller: a fully reclining seat and built-in newborn foot cover replace the separate car seat the original Butterfly 2 required for infant use. Bugaboo lists full suspension, a near-flat 170° recline and a 17.6 lb basket.

Design and comfort

The seat reclines to a near-flat 170° with a padded headrest extension and the built-in newborn foot cover for from-birth use. Fabrics are PFAS-free and water-repellent, the handlebar grips are vegan leather, and the UPF 50+ canopy detaches and extends with a peekaboo panel. It comes in desert taupe, forest green, heritage black, deep indigo and dusty pink.

Fold and ride

At 16 lb it’s on the heavier side of this shortlist, but Bugaboo’s one-second, one-hand fold collapses the whole stroller down to an IATA carry-on-compatible 17.6 × 9.6 × 21.8 in, and full suspension is built in.

Bugaboo says the Butterfly 2 Plus cuts CO2 emissions by 37% versus the original Bugaboo Butterfly through bio-based materials and recycled aluminum, and the frame is tested over roughly 2,485 miles for durability.
