Overview

The Joolz Aer² and CYBEX Libelle solve the same problem - a stroller small enough to travel with - in different ways. The Aer² is built to be one stroller for the whole newborn-through-preschool stretch, with a full-flat recline and a baby net included for from-birth use. The Libelle goes further on raw compactness: its 12.6 × 7.8 × 18.9 in fold is one of the smallest of any travel stroller on the market, but the seat itself is rated from 6 months, not birth.

Fold and portability

Folded, the Aer² measures 20.9 × 17.3 × 9.2 in and stands up on its own once collapsed - useful when you don’t have a free hand or a wall to lean it against. The Libelle folds smaller still, to 12.6 × 7.8 × 18.9 in, making it the easier of the two to wedge into a small trunk, closet or overhead bin. Comfort and ride

The Aer²’s recline goes all the way to fully flat, which the Libelle’s near-flat recline doesn’t quite match - a real difference if naps happen mid-stroll. The Libelle counters with front-wheel suspension and an adjustable leg rest of its own, plus a one-pull harness that tightens in a single motion.

Newborn use

The Aer² ships with a baby net for newborn use in its current US configuration - no separate bassinet purchase needed to bring it home from the hospital, following Joolz’s required newborn setup. The Libelle takes a different approach: the seat itself is rated for 6 months and up, with a compatible infant car seat sold separately for younger babies (not scored in this comparison).

Price

The Aer² is the pricier of the two at around $549, against around $349.95 for the Libelle. That roughly $200 gap buys the Aer²’s from-birth readiness, full-flat recline and larger 17.6 lb basket.

Which one should you buy?

Choose the Joolz Aer² if you want one stroller to cover the newborn stage through the preschool years, and a fully flat recline matters for naps.

Choose the CYBEX Libelle if the smallest possible fold and a lower price are the priority, and your child is already 6 months or older.
