THE SHORT ANSWER
Collapsible strollers under 20 lb may fly in the cabin.
American’s Conditions of Carriage state that a fully collapsible stroller under 20 lb may be carried into the cabin if it fits in the overhead bin. Heavier or non-collapsible strollers are gate-checked or checked at the ticket counter.
